And I love it...
 |
| Dresden Striezelmarkt |
It's raining all day today, it's supposed to snow after the 2nd Advent, but we also had sun and I immediately took advantage of the sun to photograph the quilt.
Now it's finished, my very first large quilt, 135 x 225 cm.
When I started, I had the absolute idea of quilting it myself, until I realized that such a large blanket wouldn't fit under my sewing machine... and I was lucky, there has been a quilt and patchwork shop in Dresden since the summer of 2024 and Anke does it with a lot of passion and joy and quilted the blanket for me on her longarm quilting machine...
And above all, I thought that sewing by hand would tire me out in boredom, but no... actually it's like a meditation, doing stitch by stitch in the same way... it was fun, also because I listened to podcasts while doing it. .. and especially because you dear ones in the sewing community helped me so kindly... thank you very much. I'm now sewing the binding with a short, very thin needle and it's wonderful. There's still a blanket ready... but in Advent... I don't think so... the Christmas markets, Christmas parties, drinking coffee - you know?
I also sewed fondation paper piercing and drew this pattern... there are so many ideas on the net and you can easily draw it yourself. I think I will also sew small houses and huts.

three parts for one star

This sewn star is worked with a ruler and rotary cutter... I found the instructions online under "Beautiful Stars" with Nähnika in German.
I made a little doily out of it... of course it also looks great as a block... YES :-))
And this one is particularly fun... you can find it, for example, under "Easy no sew Fabric Stars!"
And... yes :-)) Christmas market, shining stars, Christmas singing,
mulled wine and co...
I love it.
The Plaumentoffel has been available at the Dresden Striezelmarkt since 1801.
I wish you all a nice Advent season.
Happy hugs from Viola
Incredible quilt. The Amish here do this all the time. I have never tried as I would get bored soon and never finish. We too have a shop where they will machine quilt for a fee and do wonderful work. I love seeing the street fair for Christmas season.
AntwortenLöschenOh Viola, it is SPECTACULAR! What a magnificent quilt -- I love it. And I equally loved all the beautiful photos. I'd love to see every single image "in person!" Happy Season!
AntwortenLöschenLovely photos.
AntwortenLöschen...Viola, thanks for shariing the excitement and color of your Christmas season.
AntwortenLöschenWow, I love everything about this post! Your quilt is so detailed and that no sew star is awesome!

AntwortenLöschenThe Christmas street fair is wonderful! Tis the season. :)

AntwortenLöschenHappy Advent time to you too!
Adventswochenende
Kerstin und Helga
Your quilt is exquisite!! Those long-arm sewing machines must be such a time saver.
AntwortenLöschenThe pieced star is my favourite. How lovely it is💗💗💗
Those stollen look good. I saw some in the grocery store but I think those would be disappointing so I'll make my own. Keep right on enjoying Advent. Granny Marigold
The quilt is beautiful. You are a true artist.
AntwortenLöschenI also really like the Christmas atmosphere.

Great job on the quilt. I love the colours you chose and how you combined them! Gorgeous! It is special!
AntwortenLöschenI love your quilt and it's just gorgeous how you designed it and put it together. Years ago when my children were small, I used their outgrown clothing to make them each a quilt and it was so much fun making them. Beautiful photos too!
AntwortenLöschenYour finished quilt is absolutely stunning, and I loved accompanying you to Dresden's Striezelmarkt. The Christmas markets we have here definitely pale in comparison! xxx
Besos.
AntwortenLöschenHappy Advent to you!
AntwortenLöschenMy mother made those starts always hand sewing them. I still have some she made into mats.

Lovely pictures of the market. It looks fun. Your quilt turned out beautiful. I love the bright cheery colors. Nice work.

Fijne adventstijd.
Lieve groet Willy
Hello, Viola. This quilt shows your great capacity for patience, as the work is long and repetitive. Congratulations, it turned out fantastic.
