 Yay finally :-)

How wonderful :-) the snow is enough for skiing. I wait for it every winter. This morning I fed the birds, waxed the skis, took the bread and the  oatmeal cookies out of the oven... and then with great joy went on the skis... from today on I will be very busy.

Surdeigsrugbrød - Sourdough rye bread

Havrekjeks ut av ovnen i morges

I don't live in the ski area, so I don't have snow that often and, above all, I don't have a cross-country ski trail, which means I track with my skis.

And then I can run back in my ski track. And I really enjoy it.

Cozy things to do at home.

The weather report announced the sun... sun and powder snow are the dream in winter.

The film Munch was shown in the art house cinema.

Are you interested in the European Figure Skating Championships? The entire European Championships including the exhibition runs were shown live in our media library – without advertising. Wonderful.

In the cinema I saw the Norwegian film “Munch” about the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch. I had the wonderful opportunity to see the Munch150 exhibition in Oslo in 2013 (on the occasion of his 150th birthday). Two galleries showed his works - the National Gallery 1882 - 1904 and the Munch Museum 1904 - 1944. We also saw his small house with a studio and living room on the Oslofjord in Åsgårdstrand.

The new Munch Museum in Oslo opened in 2021. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Get through the winter well on this site.

I have to say I can't imagine summer right now. Stay with yourself in what you do - enjoy what is.

Hugs from Viola

  3. The bread and cookies look really good. I was a downhill skier but I have not done cross country. My husband did, I preferred the slopes! It looks beautiful.

  5. I love cross country skiing. I have back country skis for breaking trails as I enjoy skiing right from the house. I can go to a groomed trail, but it is a drive.

I started cross country skiing back in college as a way to keep in good cross country running shape in the winter.
I love it. But snow shoes fit my area better as there are so many logs to go over!

    Looks wonderful!

  17. Your bread and oatmeal cookies look fabulous, Viola, and I bet they taste wonderful. I am glad to hear that you embrace winter. For those of us who live in a northern climate it’s the only thing to do. Enjoy it, and stop complaining about it. It’s too bad we don’t live closer to each other. Very best wishes - David

  23. Hej Viola!

  28. Except for in the part of Belgium called the Ardennes, there's hardly ever enough snow for skiing here. But I can definitely understand the excitement. It is exciting too that a Belgian girl won a gold medal at the
European Figure Skating Championship :-)) xxx

    1. Yes, super.
      Congratulations!
I haven't been into figure skating in recent years and was also surprised that Belgium won gold and bronze in the women's event. Two medals for the women, how great for the Belgian Skating Federation. Loena Hendrickx is trained by her brother.

  33. We've had a lovely snowy day here. Went for a long walk and came back exhausted from trudging through the snow. It was heavy! Your bread and other baking look good, and would be most welcome after your cross country ski exercise.
I'm enjoying winter. Might as well because we can't do anything to change it.

  36. Liebe Viola,

  41. I can only imagine how quiet and peaceful your ski trips are. For me ski age is long gone and not something one can do in this part of England anyway, no snow here, it is very rare we see any at all. Enjoy it!

  46. How wonderful! So glad you were able to get your skis out. I thoroughly enjoyed all your photos, the snow on the roof of the bird feeder makes a very pretty picture, as do all your other photos. The breads look delicious! I always used to watch figure skating. I hope the movie Munch will be seen over here. It sounds very interesting. I was in Oslo in 2014 and saw many wonderful things. I would have enjoyed seeing the Munch Museum. Thank you for introducing him to me. I enjoyed your post very much. Have a great week!
