I don't live in an area with a lot of snow, so I take advantage of the snow when it's there. This winter, seven days in a row is enough for the skis. Which means seven days of skiing. Wonderful, this is the time when I bow to winter... thank you.
My husband built a camera near the birdhouse... look at this little blue tit...
At the moment it is 6 degrees and the snow has melted,
the first fascinating flocks of birds can be seen and heard...
we took a Sunday walk at our altitude...
and these fingerless gloves are great for photography. I knitted them from handspun yarn that I purchased from a local workshop. I love knitting with patterns.
Wonderful photos, so glad you were able to enjoy skiing. I have fingerless gloves for taking photos, too, but I bought mine, my fingers can't knit anymore. Hugs, Valerie
Those snow photos are heavenly, Viola! We had some snow too last week, but nowhere near as much as you had. Those fingerless gloves you knitted are gorgeous! xxx
You have captured the very best of winter, Viola, the aspects that those of us who live in northern climates cherish so much. People who live in tropical and subtropical areas imply that they have it best, but in reality they have no idea what they are missing. There is nothing quite as invigorating as a crisp, sunny winter's day. Hugs from Ontario - David
I didn't realize that your area didn't necessarily get a lot of snow. I can see why you take advantage of every chance to go skiing. Your winter photos are lovely.
That little blue tit is sweet. Beautiful photos of your winter wonderland, Viola. It seems you have been able to enjoy lots of skiing. How fun for you. Those fingerless gloves are pretty; such lovely colours and pattern.
I am jealous of your snow. We usually have a lot and have hardly had any this winter so far. Those are lovely fingerless gloves! You are very talented. :)
Beautiful snow, Viola. Ours is all gone, other than for a few piles that were stacked up by snow plows. They are melting fast. Your fingerless gloves are very pretty. Have a good week.
Leuk!. Mooie handschoenen. Fijne week, lieve groet Willy
I always enjoy your beautiful photos, Viola. Such beauty with all of the snow. Your fingerless gloves are very pretty as well. I like the colors you chose.
Lovely snowy photos. Setting up a camera to take pictures of the birds at the bird box gave you some great photos. Beautiful hand made gloves. Have a great week, Viola.
I love the mitts very much. Beautiful. I am so jealous of your proper winter weather. I am in the UK and all we have at the moment is drizzley rain and its not even very cold. I wish for snow.
I love skiing like that ! We are so hilly here, snow shoes are safer when avoiding rocks and trees up and down steep hills. But I do find places to go. I love those shots from down low and your winter looks amazing. I use a combination of fingerless gloves and mittens when out and about when it is cold!
Snow in the sunshine can be very beautiful, as in your photos. Here we haven’t seen the sun since December, so the snow is very depressing! best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Hello Viola, I didn't realize that snow didn't happen often where you live but am glad you've gotten enough for you to enjoy your skiing. I've enjoyed reading backwards here and seeing what you've experienced in the Christmas season. I think I'm going to have to look online for some of that beautiful poinsettias candy. Your new fingerless knitted gloves are such a pretty pattern with lovely colors. Well done! Best wishes to you in 2024!
Alles Liebe, Traude https://rostrose.blogspot.com/2024/01/im-zoo-mit-dem-enkel-weitere-ausfluge.html
Viola, it was wonderful to see all the snow and read that you were able to ski too. Thanks for your visit and comment on my recent blog post about the ducks and geese on the Nashua River, NH. I have not heard of the book you mentioned, The Wonderful Journey of Little Nils Holgerson with the Wild Geese.
To answer your question, the now residential-apartment buildings are former factory buildings and were for textiles as flannel blankets were made here.
My husband does enjoy his amateur radio activity and he does find it very interesting.
your images of the snow are gorgeous, i adore a snow day. i never learned to ski but what i love most about the snow is a pleasant walk in it and photographing it!! your mitts are glorious, the colors are spectacular
Mye jobb!
Hello Viola. :=) and a very good morning to you. Skiing in the snow sounds wonderful, and so are all your winter photos. Your snow shots with a bright blue sky are lovely. Your mittens are also very pretty with nice designs and colours. Take care Sonjia
Your gloves are beautiful, and so practical. I love your descriptions of the snow and your enjoyment of it. One time only in my life I went snowshoeing and it was thrilling! This is the first year that, so far, I have not visited one of my children in their snowy locations.
I have very limited experience with knitting and have a great respect for your gloves. I have more knowledge in crochet but haven't done it in years. Quilts are my thing now.
Kjære Viola

Hello Viola,
AntwortenLöschenWonderful pictures. Great to see the landscape with a even snow cover. That must be nice to go out and enjoy of it. Fantastic.
Many greetings,
Marco
Beautiful gloves, and photos. Y'all have more snow that we do here at a lower Vermont elevation. Happy Skiing!
AntwortenLöschenI did enjoy seeing your wonderful snowy photographs.
AntwortenLöschenLovely to see that blue tit.
Your gloves look great, fingerless gloves come in handy at times.
