 I sewed and cut

and I went hiking a lot, also with my husband...

And I went to a cooking class—without my husband. Have you ever tried preparing delicious meals together with others under the supervision of a chef—without any responsibility? It's so much fun.

a photo of the 6-course menu

and I was in the State Art Collections in Dresden Castle... and I'll tell you about that first...

Strolling around Dresden is always lovely,

and I like to combine it with a museum visit... The exhibition "100 Ideas of Happiness" - Art Treasures from Korea has been on display since last week. The exhibition is in Dresden until August 10, 2025, and is a true treasure trove of inspiration and information.

In the baroque state rooms of the Royal Palace, valuable grave goods, precious jewelry, royal robes, and exquisite porcelain provide a wonderful impression of Korea's artistic tradition. I will definitely visit this exhibition again...

oh how beautiful ... and I treated myself to a wonderful coffee :-))

...and here's my latest sewing project. I used the walking foot, which I was pleased with.

It's nice when something is finished.

Warm greetings to you, near and far

Viola.

  1. Så fin patchwork du har sydd! Nydelige farger.

  28. Viola, Sauerbraten is a stew with many seasonings and very tasty
Here we are used to Spanish stews that do not have many spices, usually oregano, bay leaf and some other.

  29. That art exhibit looks fantastic! And oh, how I would love your Chef Day! That looks delicious. I have to tell you how much I love your sense and use of color. It just makes me happy!

  39. Lovely to see your finished pieces, they are beautiful! A wonderful blogpost and a lovely tour of the city and museum. Great exhibits! Thank you for sharing them all :)

    Alles Liebe, Traude

  43. It looks like a very interesting exhibition to visit and the Korean art is beautiful. Lots of bright colours. I love your new finished table runner. It looks like a wonderful sunset/sunrise. The cooking class looked fun. Wow! Six courses that is a lot of food. Have a lovely start of the month and enjoy good weather.

  44. What a wonderful exhibit to visit, Viola. The patchwork fabrics used as giftwrap have given me an idea. I have scraps of silk fabrics and have wondered what to do with them. Now I know!
The cooking class sounds fun, as does walking with your husband. It's so lovely now in the springtime.

    AntwortenLöschen
  45. I love how you balance creativity, exploration, and self-care. The cooking class sounds like such a fun experience—having the chance to enjoy preparing meals without the usual responsibility must have been a real treat.

The exhibition in Dresden must have been incredible! The blend of history and artistic tradition sounds fascinating. I can only imagine how the Korean art treasures must have looked in the baroque setting of the Royal Palace. It’s wonderful that you plan to visit again; sometimes you can miss so much on a first visit, especially in a collection as rich as that.

Your sewing project is a lovely touch, too. The satisfaction of finishing something with your own hands must be rewarding, especially with the walking foot, which really helps with precision.

Thank you for sharing such a lovely glimpse into your experiences. Wishing you many more enjoyable moments like these.
