Enjoying
I have continued working with curved seams and will collect these blocks to use with others later.
As a little fun in between, I sewed these cup coasters...
There was interest in the “Grilled Food” cooking class. I recently had a course in Portuguese cuisine with this master chef and was so excited that I booked the next course... there were 13 of us participants and we worked outside in the garden and partly in the house in the kitchen. The head chef, Mr. Fischer, came with a large box of freshly purchased items, gave an introduction and announced the menu... each participant could choose what they wanted to work on.
I chose "Beef tenderloin tournedos with butter mixture Cafe de Paris" - the two of us worked on it.
There was an anti-pasti - vegetables cut into thin strips and grilled - I ate it with the grilled beef fillet... because I was still working on my dish when the course was ready to be served.
The second course was a cold borscht soup with beetroot and a hot potato – delicious!
 |
| the pot with potatoes |
Also prepared was Shopska salad “Blagoevgrad” and grilled garlic bread.
We continued with: Herbal halloumi from Paphos – grilled – and shish kebab “Pizunda”
Afterwards I had the honor of grilling the beef fillet, which we served with the butter.
I was thrilled with the grilled shrimp...
...and maybe you can imagine the dessert of grilled pineapple with basil and vanilla ice cream.
I'm telling you, I have a pineapple in the fridge, exactly, and ice cream... and the basil is growing in the garden :-))
Let's go to culture...
There was a concert, theater and dance with the great ballet from the Semperoper.
"Romeo and Julia"
After the fantastic weather of the last few weeks it has become a little cooler, currently it's 15 degrees Celsius and a cool wind, that's not my favorite summer temperature, it's just good that it's the beginning of July... and summer will last a long time ...
Enjoy what you do... enjoy being outside.
Kind regards from Viola
...Viola, you have so many fabulous talents. Those cup coasters are so colorful and your culinary skill are wonderful. Yesterday we were 26 C, that too hot for me, perhaps we should trade. Take care and have a Jolly July weekend.
AntwortenLöschen... yes Tom, we'll swap. Winter can be cold, but I love the warm summer.
Löschenhug
AntwortenLöschenYour cooking preparation is so impressive. Love your shots of food.
The food sounds delicious! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your curved piecing. Happy stitching!
AntwortenLöschenMy goodness! That food! 👍
AntwortenLöschenHello Viola,
AntwortenLöschenWhat a nice post. The images of the kitchen are impressive.
Great to see all the delicious food...hmmm..!! Wonderful grilled beef and shrimp. You make me hungry with all these wonderful pictures.
Have a nice day,
Marco
It was very tasty Marco and best of all, I only prepared a small part of it myself and had a lot of fun doing it.
LöschenThere will be more courses, maybe I'll book again :-)))
Oh! Everything looks delicious and it's time for lunch...
AntwortenLöschenNice coasters
Good shots
Viola,
AntwortenLöschenThe food looks delicious. Love this grilled vegetables! What a great class!
And there was enough of everything, you could choose your favorite parts... delicious.
LöschenYour food looks so good! I like your idea for coasters.
AntwortenLöschenI am loving seeing your sewing projects and Wow what an amazing cooking class you attended. Amazing food! that sounded so fun. and the ballet as well-enjoyed your post
AntwortenLöschenThe ballet was great, dear Kathy, I already have tickets ready for the next performances... according to the motto "Anticipation, the most beautiful joy"
LöschenDearest Viola,
AntwortenLöschenYou really are loving your new sewing style and it looks so fun and almost endless possibilities.
That cooking class no doubt was fun to participate in and you created delicious dishes.
Romeo and Juliet is no doubt a great play—however tragic.
Hugs,
Mariette
AntwortenLöschenThe cold soup - borch - with the hot potato was absolutely fantastic. I will prepare it at home in hot summer weather.
LöschenThe fresh basil goes very well with the ice cream with grilled pineapple and is a visual feast for the eyes.
The curved lines in your sewing intrigue me. Can hardly wait to see what you make with them. The coasters! My eye doctor who retired, his wife had them to give away to clients. That was so sweet of her. I have two of them.
AntwortenLöschenThat cooking class--wow! I can't imagine cold soup, but everything looked delicious. What an exciting learning adventure!
But that last picture had me confused. What are those beautiful cups doing upside down on a fence or whatever they are on?
The tradition of trophies on the fence came to us from Bohemia... it's supposed to bring good luck and I think it looks very inviting.
LöschenThe cold soup is only eaten here on very hot days.
A hug to you Rita.
You sew so much beautifully. The coasters are very nice. You can soon start as a chef! The food looks so delicious. Last night it was only 6 degrees here, so it feels more like autumn than summer. Let's hope it gets warmer again soon.
Hugs from Marit
Lovely post!
AntwortenLöschenPretty coasters! The cooking class sounds and looks like fun.
AntwortenLöschenNow I'm hungry just looking at all the delicious food. What a feast! Enjoy your cooler weather.
AntwortenLöschenYour sewing is just beautiful. And I was savoring each and every photo of your cooking class. That sounds like such fun -- I think I'd want to sign up for another one, too. Wonderful photos here, Viola. Beautiful nature, the ballet (sigh -- years since I've been). All wonderful. Have a great week.
AntwortenLöschenOh Viola, everything is beautiful and fantastic! Your wonderful sewing projects. And those cooking classes! I savored each and every photo and I know if I had done that, I'd be signing up for the next one, too. It's been ages since I've been to the ballet -- I'd love that. And all that nature. What a fabulous week! I hope it keeps up!
AntwortenLöschenThe ballet was wonderful... I already have the next ticket here and am thinking of signing up for another cooking class... it's so much fun.
LöschenHug you, Jeanie... and otherwise I spend a lot of time outside in nature. Enjoyment
I'm loving your sewing projects, and how gorgeous are those coasters!
AntwortenLöschenAnd oh my, that delicious looking food is truly making me salivate!
We've finally had some real Summer temperatures last week, but now we're back to around 16°C. Not my favourite Summer temperature either :-) xxx
...finally today it's summer again with wonderful temperatures. I like this.
LöschenYour sewing projects look great. I don't have the patience for sewing although I have done some in the past.
AntwortenLöschenAll the food looks delicious.
Buenas y distintas actividades, observo en tus fotografías.
AntwortenLöschenFeliz fin de semana.
Viola you have made very beautiful coasters.
AntwortenLöschenCooking is great love, enjoyment and patience!
The hare and the fox are surprised!!
...I met both of them on walks in the forest and through the fields, the cell phone doesn't take good photos, but the impression is preserved... nice, isn't it!
LöschenCoasters are always useful and the ones you made are lovely.
AntwortenLöschenI have never tried grilling pineapple. Something I'll do this summer.
Love the coasters.
AntwortenLöschenAll the food looks delicious.
The grilled pineapple is a great idea.
Me dio ganas de la comida. Te mando un beso.
AntwortenLöschenKiss back... good food is always great.
LöschenI love it.
Great coasters Viola and what an amazing meal! xx
AntwortenLöschenMen så mycket gott det lagades. Du måste ha hamnat i matkoma efteråt 😉😀.
Kram Carin
...you could also eat snacks and whatever you wanted. It was a sophisticated menu... eaten throughout the evening - very digestible.
LöschenYou accomplish so much, Viola! I liked borscht because I cook it often. Grilled shrimp also look very appetizing. I can’t even say enough about ice cream and pineapple - it’s so delicious.
AntwortenLöschenI'm glad you were at the theater for the ballet. Our weather is also +16 C and I’m waiting for it to be warmer.
I saw Don Quixote many, many years ago at the Kirov Theater in what was then Leningrad. It was great, later I saw Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake at home with this outstanding ballet ensemble and also the Nutcracker. I would really like to go to the Mariinsky Theater today.
LöschenI hope it's warmer where you are now too... happy summer to you.
Hello….its Susan again….can you add a comment to one of my blog posts and include your email address….then I can send you some information about no reply commenting
AntwortenLöschenI'll add it to your blog.
LöschenYour sewing is fantastic. I'm really interested so see where you'll go with those curves. And nice coasters too. But wow, your food looks amazing. That sounds like a fun class. I haven't done a cooking class in awhile and maybe it's time. Have a super weekend. hugs-Erika
AntwortenLöschen...it's a lot of fun when the cook is good and the participants are nice.
LöschenYour sewing and cooking skills are way beyond me!
AntwortenLöschenLovely post -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
AntwortenLöschenWonderful photos, of things I can't do, like sew
AntwortenLöschenI love the curved sewing.... how clever. And the cooking class looks amazing - now you can make all that at home!!
AntwortenLöschenHugz
Maybe not everything :-)) ...I made it for fun... but I will definitely make this cold soup at home. And there are some suggestions that I can implement in my kitchen... e.g. the French salad dressing - vinaigrette.
Kommt mir also sehr entgegen.
Such a lovely post Viola.
AntwortenLöschenYou do enjoy a variety of hobbies and interests and show them so well in your photographs. The cookery class looks amazing.
Enjoy your July days.
All the best Jan

I enjoyed learning about your cooking class and viewing all of the delicious food that was prepared. It sounds amazing!
AntwortenLöschenI would enjoy cooler temperatures right now. :)
xx
I am loving watching your sewing projects. I need to make some new mug rugs...it would at least be something I could finish quickly. The food looks delicious!
AntwortenLöschenYes, the cup coasters are quick to make as long as the material is available.
LöschenAnd they are so much fun to sew.
It looks like you had so much fun at your cooking class. The sewn coasters look fabulous and so individual. Great job.
And the outdoor cooking class looks it was so so good!!!
AntwortenLöschenExactly, the course was outdoors and I thought that was particularly great, especially since the weather was excellent.
What a fabulous cooking experience, Viola. The food looks and sounds delicious! Your cup coasters are bright and cheerful - hopefully they will soon reflect the warmth of the sun.
Lovely course and lovely pictures!
AntwortenLöschenLove from Titti
Love the colors in fabrics, both in the little quilted cup holders and the squares for later. The good looks and sounds wonderful. Think that would be fun. I've never taken a cooking class.
AntwortenLöschenMuy bonito e interesante tu blog. Besos.
