Monastery garden
of St. Marienstern Monastery
The monastery is located in Upper Lusatia in Saxony/Germany and was founded in 1248. From 1264 the monastery was accepted into the Cistercian order. The abbey is one of the few monasteries that have existed without interruption since its founding until today.
Today we're looking at some photos from my walk in the monastery garden.
It is primarily a vegetable and herb garden, but also a place to relax.
 |
Baldrian - Valeriana officinalis L.
|
 |
Arnika - Anica montana
|
 |
| Ringelblume - Calendula Officinalis |
 |
Johanniskraut - Hypericum perforatum
|

Schlafmohn - Papaver somniferum
 |
Muskatellersalbei - Salvia sclarea
|
I was able to admire the blue-black carpenter bee (Xylocopa violacea) on this beautiful sage... I was thrilled. It is our largest native wild bee species.
Look at her...
And the sage flowers are so beautiful too. I'm excited.
With these beautiful flowers we let the monastery garden rest for now and I show my results in free cutting with fabric
and sewing the curves.

I enjoy free cutting and will continue to work with it for the time being. I realize that my fabric supply is far too small.

Dearest Viola,
AntwortenLöschenWISH we had such ancient monastery and lovely garden here in this new world. What a beauty and for maintaining the grounds like that is pure joy to walk there.
Your sewing creation is very special and looking great as a table runner!
Hugs,
Mariette
...St. Marienstern Monastery is beautiful as are your flowers. Stop over, I have plenty of fabric!!!
AntwortenLöschenThe monastery building is very attractive, and so are the flowers in its garden! I've greatly enjoyed your displayed photos!
AntwortenLöschenThis is a beautiful place and what a long history it has. The flowers....gorgeous. I like the bee, very unique.
AntwortenLöschenThe monastery garden is pretty. The architecture is so unique and special.
AntwortenLöschenWhat a beautiful and interesting building. Love the lavender.
AntwortenLöschenI have never seen one of those blue-black bees. So interesting! Thank you for sharing!
AntwortenLöschenViola, the use of pesticides and toxic fertilizers is one of the causes of the death of the abjas, with time they will disappear It is good to know that without them the pollination of plants would not be possible so that they can give seeds and fruits. In turn, these seeds and fruits feed other small animals that begin with an unstoppable chain until they reach the human being and our own food.
AntwortenLöschenlovely place to visit and I love the bee pictures.... the curves are looking fantastic... I love those colours together.... sounds like you need to do something about getting some more fabric!!!
AntwortenLöschenHugz
Thank you for sharing the monastery grounds I really enjoyed all the blooms too I love your curvy seams. how fun! If we lived closer I would share some fabric with you-I still have too much fabric from my quilting days. Happy weekend hugs Kathy
AntwortenLöschenThe flowers are beautiful! Your curves are very interesting. I hope you can find more fabrics, happy stitching!

AntwortenLöschenI know it takes a lot of expertise to do something like this!!
The monastery is wonderful,
and so are its blooming gardens!!
Such a beautiful place for a walk. I love carpenter bees too! xx
Kram Carin
A beautiful peaceful garden....and I have never seen a black bee, although we have blue striped bees in Australia. Well done on your curved sewing!
AntwortenLöschenIt looks like a very wonderful place.
AntwortenLöschenThe bee looks really impressive. As for your fabric stash being too small is there ever a seamstress who admitted that she already had too much? I am quite sure that Miriam could restock the stores, but her favourite fabric shop has a 30% discount day on Monday and she will come home with more. If we let the two of you loose together in a fabric store I don’t think we’d see you for days! Hugs - David
AntwortenLöschenThat looks like a serene place to walk! The Monastery is a beautiful structure and I can almost smell the fragrance of the flowers. Colourful is the building, the flowers and your creation!
AntwortenLöschenHave a nice weekend.
AntwortenLöschenWhat a beautiful building. The gardens with all the flowers are gorgeous. I've never heard of a black bee!
AntwortenLöschenThe fabric in waves is really pretty. I can see why you want to continue doing that method. It's lovely! :)

The monestary garden is just beautiful and just viewing the pictures I feel the calmness of it.
AntwortenLöschenI like your free cutting! Very nice.xx
Such pretty flowers, what a lovely place to walk. Love what you're doing with the fabric.

We have a monastery garden like this one in Normandy close to where we live and there are armchairs to relax.
AntwortenLöschenI like your sewing but it must be difficult
AntwortenLöschenI like your photographs of the monastery building.
AntwortenLöschenNice to see the flowers in its garden.
Wishing yo a happy month of July.
All the best Jan

My Name is Lucy, and I am writing from Kansas City, I want to share my testimony with you all here on how to get finance from Mr Pedro who offers loans to individual and corporate at the rate of 2% in return. I stumbled upon his contact details online then I decided to give it a try. Then all my effort was not in vain because Mr Pedro granted me a loan of 820,000.00 USD to expand my business in which many banks have declined my request, but Mr Pedro approved my loans. I'm so grateful for what he and his loan company did for me and hopefully I will be paying yearly payment which is really good for me as a startup business owner. I will recommend his contact details Email address and WhatsApp number via (pedroloanss@gmail.com +393510140339) they will help you with any types of funding for personal or business purposes. thank you blog, admin.,
AntwortenLöschenYour walk through the monastery garden sounds like a serene and enriching experience! The variety of plants you’ve mentioned—Valerian, Arnica, Calendula, St. John’s Wort, Opium Poppy, and Clary Sage—each bring their own unique beauty and medicinal properties to the garden.
