CHEERING
The transformation of nature – enjoyment for us with all our senses.
I had an appointment in the city and combined it with a trip to Pillnitz Castle/Dresden.
I took a little break on the red sofa in my favorite cafe
and then enjoy strolling across the Loschwitz Elbe Bridge.
It's always nice to see what's happening from a bridge. You feel like you're looking through the eyes of the river.
The Elbe meadows are wonderful and ideal for a picnic.
This is the first flowering chestnut tree I have discovered.
And here is the wonderful lilac...
I took the bus to the castle, which is located in the Elbe valley on the outskirts of the city.
A few steps away we see the landing steps that the king used to reach his pleasure palace by boat from Dresden Castle. Today the castle houses exhibitions, restaurants, a castle hotel and the wonderful castle park, which I am not visiting today because I want to go to the vineyards. I want to enjoy spring and see the blossoming orchards.
I was born right across the river. The river and the castle were part of my childhood playground. I spent my youth and early adult years there and have deep roots with the river and the castle. And I took my first photos of the paddle steamers as a small child... I'm glad they're still in operation... The flagship is the "Dresden", built in 1926... There are nine paddle steamers in total that travel between Saxon Switzerland and the wine-growing region around the city of Meissen (you may know the Meissen porcelain).
I had a picnic by the river - I got mushroom soup with freshly baked black bread from the café around the corner - it was so relaxing.
The Weinbergkirche was moved from Pillnitz Castle to the nearby Royal Vineyard by King Augustus the Strong in 1720 in order to be able to further expand the castle... today there is a "Weinbergkirche Interest Group" that protects this cultural asset.
On the way back, I treated myself to a wonderful espresso.
Bye - see you next time.
I wish you a really good time. Wishing you all the best.
Viola
Viola I really enjoyed visiting with you. Such beautiful scenery, flowers, buildings and seeing the paddle steamers on the river.

Wonderful way to spend the day
AntwortenLöschenSo much to see! What a wonderful set of Springtime pictures!
AntwortenLöschenWhat a great day you had, Viola, in such magnificent surroundings with the blooms of spring to fill your senses. Mushroom soup and black bread seems like a perfect lunch for a very satisfying day. Keep on enjoying nature! Best wishes - David
AntwortenLöschenYou had a very nice day seeing the evolution of spring while visiting some of your favourite places.
AntwortenLöschenI always enjoy seeing your beautiful photos and seeing the sights from where you live.
Grande abraço carioca e do Brasil.
AntwortenLöschenWhat a beautiful connection to your roots—it must be incredibly special to see the paddle steamers still running, especially the "Dresden," and to know that the river and castle are still part of that living history.
AntwortenLöschenI love seeing your part of the world, and isn't it wonderful to see it waking after winter with things beginning to be green and blooming? I can only imagine that it was a great delight to grow up so close to a castle! The colorful blooms, the steamboats, the river -- it's picture perfect. And speaking of pictures, that was a wonderful capture of the castle with the purple flowers and dandelion fuzz ball in the foreground. I keep going back to that one! Have a wonderful week! (I'm back to England posts!)
AntwortenLöschenA lovely spring day out - your colourful flowers are so pretty.
AntwortenLöschenSpring flowers are so beautiful, they make me smile! Growing up near the castle must have been so fun, a lovely place to dream. Blessings!
AntwortenLöschen...Viola, I wish you a Merry Month of May.
AntwortenLöschenLa primavera se refleja en tus fotos. Muy bonitos los paisajes que has fotografiado.

AntwortenLöschenTraumhafte Wunderblicke hast du hier eingefangen, liebe Viola!
Good morning, gorgeous post-I enjoyed it all I love spring time
AntwortenLöschenI am enchanted by your post, Viola! What a wonderful mix of nature and splendour, threaded with some childhood nostalgia!
AntwortenLöschenYou really do live in a most beautiful part of the world. I'm following another blogger who lives in Saxon Switzerland, and although she has often virtually taken us along to Pillnitz Castle, this is the first time I was introduced to its orchards! How absolutely delightful! xxx
Liebe Viola,
It all looks so gorgeous.... lovely pictures and fun to see where you grew up...

AntwortenLöschenDear Viola, I really enjoyed your report and your all of pictures are beautiful. I also love coffee and I am glad that you wrote about this delicious drink. I am also treating myself to an espresso right now.
AntwortenLöschenM. (my boyfriend) will be in Dresden for 3 days. He will spend several days in Germany: Regensburg, Erfurt, München, Dresden... I cannot go with him because I have a hard time walking.
Spring is here, everything is green and there are many flowers here too. Enjoy the spring! I send you a big hug. Éva
Thanks for taking us on your outing today!!! Loved all the flowers and the paddleboat and the Meissen porcelain reference!!!
AntwortenLöschenLook at all those blooms! So much has probably changed there in your lifetime, I bet it is nice seeing things that stayed the same and give your heart the warm glow of your childhood.
AntwortenLöschenI love the idea of the bridges being the eyes of the river and the views from Loschwitz Elbe Bridge are stunning. Thank you for sharing the place of your birth and early childhood. The paddle steamers are wonderful to see. How lucky you were to grow up in such an amazing place and with such interesting history.
Takk for alle vakre bilder!

AntwortenLöschenViola, thank you for this lovely post.

AntwortenLöschenI would have enjoyed that day out too. Wonderful scenery, beautiful flowers. I loved the paddle steamers too. B x

Dear Viola, so beautiful photos - a whole tale about spring - and yes: I was surprised that the chestnuts are in full bloom now. I do have the feeling that everything is starting a bit early (though I have that every year :-)
AntwortenLöschenThe green is changing from very fresh to a darker version - almost summer-green.
Thank you for your beautiful blog and the elan and enthusiasm I read in it - I am an admirer and optimist too - the world is so beautiful!
Best wishes, Britta
PS: I started and added a new blog in German - "landoderstadt.blogspot, com - maybe you are interested?
Dear Viola,
AntwortenLöschenHow lovely to go out into the countryside and enjoy the beautiful flowers and sights of spring. Chestnuts are in bloom here, like great candles on the branches.
The castle would be an interesting place to visit. What a wonderful landscape to grow up in.
best wishes,
Lorrie
Beautiful flowering trees on the banks of the Elbe, Viola. Of course, I know and love Meissen porcelain and I like paddle steamers. How wonderfully you spent your time on the river bank.
AntwortenLöschenTakk for hyggelig tilbakemelding hos meg.
AntwortenLöschenThese pictures are so lovely! I feel as though I just went on a beautiful outing with you. I'm glad we stopped for espresso :)
AntwortenLöschenYour photos are brilliant, and the story of you growing up with the river and the castle nearby.
