new project and day trip
My new project will be my fourth quilt. I cut the different fabrics into equal-sized squares so that I can then use the chosen free-cutting technique.
Now four pieces of fabric are placed on top of each other and cut into four pieces... the free-form cutting is really fun... as is putting the pieces of fabric together.
Wonderful patterns emerge that now need to be sewn together.
I will keep you updated on the progress of the work.
We took a city and country trip to beautiful Görlitz. The city is divided by the Lausitzer Neisse River, which forms the border with Poland. The Polish part of the city is called Zgorzelec.
We parked right in town and walked the German part from the Obermarkt across the Untermarkt to the river to reach the pedestrian bridge that connects the two cities.
During Advent, a joint Christmas market takes place on both sides of the bridge and that makes my heart beat faster with joy.

Takk for alle flotte bilder.
Takk for din hyggelige kommentar hos meg.
AntwortenLöschenCan't wait to see the progress on your quilt.
AntwortenLöschenI love seeing all the old buildings. The architecture is simply amazing.
Your project looks interesting and your photos too.
AntwortenLöschenViola, what a great post. I learned quite a bit -- never thought about the border before. And I love the quilt design you're making, great color choices, too.
AntwortenLöschenHello Viola,
AntwortenLöschenNice pictures you have made. Fantastic place with wonderful locations and nice things and old places to see. A good place for a hike and see there all of another position.
Nice creations you have made with the different figures and colors.

I love the colors of your new quilt and the curves look great. Definitely gives it a modern look. And wow, what a fascinating place to take a day trip. Do you have to go through customs to walk across the bridge between Germany and Poland? Enjoy your weekend.
AntwortenLöschenPoland and Germany are members of the European Union. Due to the current political situation, border controls may occur. Customs regulations apply. However, citizens of both countries can normally cross the border freely without passport or customs checks.
LöschenWhat a wonderful trip with amazing photos. Good luck with you new project, I lok forward to seeing it.
AntwortenLöschenHugs
You've been having fun, Viola. Gorlitz is beautiful -- it's a spot I think I'd love to visit someday. And I love the colors for your new quilt. I can't wait to see it progress. Have a wonderful weekend!

Those arches...echoing, in a way , your free cutting shapes..
AntwortenLöschenI've never thought of cutting like that...only of free quilting..
Liebe Viola,
So much fabulous architecture to be seen. Oh my, those buildings are very close to the river. The quilt is an interesting one, Viola. Those curves have me fascinated.
AntwortenLöschenI love the design of your new quilt project and look forward to following your progress. What an amazing town/city Gorlitz is, so much to see and I love the idea of the footbridge joining the two halves. xx
AntwortenLöschenI bet that quilt is quite difficult to put together, Viola. Congratulations on your adventurous spirit. It was great to accompany you on your visit to the German/Polish border and to know that this level of peaceful coexistence can exist between two nations with a dark history. As always your upbeat spirit and zest for life inspire us all. Big hugs - David
Noke
What a fun quilt!
AntwortenLöschenLovely area with so many different styles of buildings and a pretty river flowing through it. Thanks for sharing. :)
Your new quilt is going to be a stunner, those patterns are very funky!
AntwortenLöschenI loved tagging along to Görlitz and its Polish sister. The mix of architectural styles makes for a very picturesque and interesting whole!
Your hike up the Landeskrone is very much my cup of tea as well! xxx
Your quilt is going to be beautiful!...lovely pictures of the town!....Abrazotes, Marcela

Your fourth quilt will definitely be spectacular ❤️
AntwortenLöschenThank you for this beautiful virtual tour. The architecture of the buildings is beautiful, strolling the streets is charming, the landscapes and the river are fantastic.
Wonderful photos!
Many greetings from,
Maria
A beautiful outing and so good to see all the great photos.
AntwortenLöschenThey look like tricky blocks you have made.
Besos.
AntwortenLöschenWhat a beautiful outing you enjoyed. The architecture of Gorlitz is interesting to see, and I love the idea of a Christmas market taking place on both sides of the border.
AntwortenLöschenYour quilt will be very eye-catching with the free form shapes and the well-chosen colours.
You can almost see it taking shape already. Görlitz looks beautiful too; I’d love to visit and walk across that bridge, especially with the Christmas market there. The view from the Landeskrone must be incredible.
AntwortenLöschenWhat handsome buildings and interesting history. How I wish that all borders were as friendly as those on either side of the bridge.
AntwortenLöschenI'm looking forward to seeing the finished quilt!
Dear Viola, as always, you have brought back many interesting, atmospheric things and beautiful pictures. The Advent markets are still a long way off, but it is good that you wrote about them. I feel their atmosphere, I admire the interested crowd, and the colors they give.
AntwortenLöschenBut now it is autumn, the pictures of your walks in the forest are very beautiful. I also walked in the forest yesterday.
There are very beautiful buildings in Görlitz, I enjoyed seeing them in your photos.
Enjoy autumn now, I wish you many experiences this time of year. Hugs, Éva
beautiful pictures. interesting blog. I admire your sewing ability!
AntwortenLöschenYour patchwork quilt will be absolutely lovely and modern. I've never seen a cutting machine like that. You must be extremely talented to sow all these bits together. Good luck!
AntwortenLöschenThe town of Görlitz reminds med of Gdansk in Poland. More or less the same architecture. I guess that the houses of Görlitz are original, whilst the city of Dansk was destroyed in WW2 and rebuilt with replicas of the old buildings.
Beautiful guided tour. Will love to see the finished quilt.
AntwortenLöschenHugs and Blessings
