Colorful fabrics

I was happily sewing in this rainy weather... nothing is nicer than playing with colors when it's gray and wet outside.

...it's really fun to put different fabrics and patterns together.

And I ordered because I wasn't entirely happy with my results... I bought a beautiful bright green, which I think fits wonderfully into this variety of colors.

Voilà.

There was a ray of sunshine in the sky, which I quickly took advantage of.

So the patchwork part is 1.40 m by 2.30 m - (it hangs double) next comes the sandwich (top, intermediate lining, backing fabric - which still needs to be chosen) quilting and the binding.

All I can say is hats off to the Quilters Guild - it's a lot of work. 

It's been a lot of fun so far... I'll keep you updated - I have to find a suitable backing fabric first.

My UFO is also brought out - let's see what will be finished first :-)

There was also art and culture. I was at the Semperoper Dresden

 

in Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata. It was a wonderful production and I am very happy that I bought tickets for Tchaikovsky's ballet "Sleeping Beauty" for next week.

It's just heavenly.

Just in time for the carnival, I started a varied project - lots of cheerful colors and patterns go under the sewing machine. It's simply wonderful to look at this colorful mix. Yes color is a must! I will of course present the result.

And there was a walk to get these wonderful sweets - in my region they are called "Pfannkuchen" - pancakes - filled with lots of jam and very delicious... at selected bakeries.

It was a wonderful walk - today with sunshine.

Do you know pancakes? What are they called in your area? Do you celebrate carnival in your area? The carnival season starts here on November 11th. and ends tomorrow on Ash Wednesday with Lent seven weeks before Easter.

 Winter at its best

This cutie found my skis very interesting

I don't live in an area with a lot of snow, so I take advantage of the snow when it's there. This winter, seven days in a row is enough for the skis. Which means seven days of skiing. Wonderful, this is the time when I bow to winter... thank you.

My husband built a camera near the birdhouse... look at this little blue tit...

At the moment it is 6 degrees and the snow has melted, 

the first fascinating flocks of birds can be seen and heard...

 we took a Sunday walk at our altitude... 

and these fingerless gloves are great for photography. I knitted them from handspun yarn that I purchased from a local workshop. I love knitting with patterns.

 Yay finally :-)

Å flott, fra i dag av blir det nok snø til ski. Jeg er veldig glad. Det er en stor glede for meg å gli gjennom snøen på skiene... Jeg kommer til å ha det veldig travelt de neste dagene :-)))

How wonderful :-) the snow is enough for skiing. I wait for it every winter. This morning I fed the birds, waxed the skis, took the bread and the  oatmeal cookies out of the oven... and then with great joy went on the skis... from today on I will be very busy.

I don't live in the ski area, so I don't have snow that often and, above all, I don't have a cross-country ski trail, which means I track with my skis.

And then I can run back in my ski track. And I really enjoy it.

Cozy things to do at home.

The weather report announced the sun... sun and powder snow are the dream in winter.

Ellers hadde jeg det veldig gøy å se kunstløp-EM. Alle konkurransene ble sendt direkte og uten reklame i mediebiblioteket. Og jeg så den norske filmen «Munch» (2023) på kino.

The film Munch was shown in the art house cinema.

Are you interested in the European Figure Skating Championships? The entire European Championships including the exhibition runs were shown live in our media library – without advertising. Wonderful.

In the cinema I saw the Norwegian film “Munch” about the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch. I had the wonderful opportunity to see the Munch150 exhibition in Oslo in 2013 (on the occasion of his 150th birthday). Two galleries showed his works - the National Gallery 1882 - 1904 and the Munch Museum 1904 - 1944. We also saw his small house with a studio and living room on the Oslofjord in Åsgårdstrand.

The new Munch Museum in Oslo opened in 2021. I'm looking forward to seeing it. 

Get through the winter well on this site.

I have to say I can't imagine summer right now. Stay with yourself in what you do - enjoy what is.

måtte året bringe glede og lykke. Send gode ting til verden, ikke la det negative tynge deg ned.

Start i det små, gi naboen et smil eller en gledelig samtale, gjør noe godt for deg selv... bra for kropp og sinn... sett pris på deg selv og andre.

Jeg har i mange år ikke lagt noen spesielle planer for det nye året, men prøver heller å gå positivt gjennom livet gjennom hele året... gi glede... motta glede. 

May the year bring joy and happiness. Send good things into the world, don't let the negative weigh you down.

Start small, give your neighbor a smile or a pleasant conversation, do something good for yourself... good for your body and mind... value yourself and others.

For many years I have not made any special plans for the new year, but rather try to go through life positively throughout the year... Giving joy... Receiving joy.

Today it's my turn: blog friends, cooking, doing something good for my body with sports and a walk in the forest... and I got out the knitting needles...
